Prof.D. Suneel

Prof. D. Suneel is the Dean of Academic Affairs and a distinguished professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Narasaraopeta Engineering College. Before joining NEC as the head of the Mechanical Engineering Department in April 2012, he worked at various levels at GITAM University and KL University. Earlier, as Head of Department, he represented Mechanical Engineering before NBA, NAAC, and Autonomous committees and helped bring their accreditations, contributing to the success of NEC. Prof. Suneel, an accomplished research scholar, was instrumental to the Mechanical department getting recognised by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University – Kakinada.

He received his Doctorate Degree from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in the year 2010. His current teaching and research interests include Metal Cutting and Machine Tool Design, Engineering Mechanics, Metal Matrix Nanocomposites, Nanofluids, Nanocoatings, Polymer Nanocomposites, and Nanomaterials. He has published more than 20 research papers in reputed national and international journals/conferences. He acted as co-investigator in two research projects, one at GITAM and another at Andhra University. He had been ratified as a Professor and recognised as research supervisor by JNTU-K. He has guided 8 B.Tech and 4 M.Tech projects.

He has attended 12 workshops and training programmes at institutes of national repute, such as IIT-Kanpur. He is a Life-Member in MRSI (Materials Research Society of India) from 21-4-2010. He was certified by Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc. on “High Impact Presentation Skills” and by Wipro Mission 10x on “Effective Teaching Methodologies” on February 19, 2009. He delivered expert lectures on Nanomaterials at neighbouring colleges and also organised a 3-day National workshop on “Characterisation and Synthesis of Nanomaterials” as a co-coordinator from 25th to 27th February, 2010 at KL University. In 2012, he organised a three-week training programme on AUTOCAD by CITD-Sub Centre for NEC’s and NIT’s Mechanical Engineering students. He was the convener of the international conference NECICRTME-2K15 organised in 2015 at the NEC’s Department of Mechanical Engineering.

In the academic year 2015-16, he has generated funds of Rs 18,90,000 from AICTE towards the modernisation of MOS Lab, and successfully completed the project in time.

At present, he not only is taking care of Academic Affairs but also is nurturing new programmes for the exponential growth and development of NEC Group of Institutes.
