What is NISP?

The ‘National Innovation and Start-up Policy 2019 for students and faculty in HeS Is was launched by Hon’ble Minister of Education, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on 11th September 2019 at AICTE,
New Delhi.This policy intends to guide HEIs for promoting students’ driven innovations & start-ups and to engage the students and faculty in innovation and start up activities in campus. The policy aims at enabling HEIs to build, streamline and strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in campus and will be instrumental in leveraging the potential of student’s creative problem solving and entrepreneurial mind-set, and promoting a strong intra and interinstitutional partnerships with ecosystem enablers and different stakeholders at regional, national and international level.The policy is being implemented by MoE’s Innovation Cell and in coordination AICTE, UGC, state/ UT governments and universities.

“To build an environment that facilitate creation of social enterprise knowledge through research academia to apply in innovation ideas to develop solutions for even rural technologies greater social impact through academia and to enable students and faculty to innovate and prototype their potential ideas with industrial standards and support from Government, industry and reputed academic institutions around the world and help them to realize their potentials”

Short Term goals of NISP

1. To critical thinking and innovation among students and faculties.

2. To promote and help the students for ideation and prototyping of potential inhouse startups.

3. Planning of various activities like FDP, expert talk, seminars and workshops related to innovation, statups and entrepreneurship to create awareness among students/faculties.

4. To enable, build and enhance the network of experts and mentors for consultancy and project funding to make the innovation and venture successful.


Long Term Goals of NISP


1. Improve quality of research to attain commercially viable patent.

2. Incubation facility for student and faculty driven start-ups.

3. Provide an environment to nurture creativity and innovation for potential startups.

4. Developing innovative projects using the emerging technologies for potential problems in the field of agriculture and healthcare.

5. Creating association with DST, MSME, CII academic/research institutions etc for funding/grants.




Committee formation for implementing National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) 2021 at NEC

The National Innovation and Startup Policy 2019 for students and faculty of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will enable the institutes to actively engage students, faculties and staff in innovation and entrepreneurship related activities.As per the guidelines given by Dr. Dipen Sahu, Assistant Innovation Director at the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell & AICTE in his online session on 11th Jaunary 2021, the following committee has been formed for the implementation and monitoring of NISP at NEC. The members have agreed to take up their roles in the committee as per guidelines in the above mentioned session.
